Chapter 8 – South Australia Here We Come

We were on Kangaroo Island and drove to Seal Bay Road in the southern region, where the Raptor Domain was advertising an interactive presentation. We loved it! So different to any other bird of prey show we’d ever seen and we’ve seen a few. I got to be up close with a boobook owl, called Boo! Fabulous little mopoke, with feathers so soft you wouldn’t believe.

From there we went to Seal Bay and another fabulous experience, this time with the Australian sea lions. We wandered down and along the beach, with a guide, among gorgeous big eyed babies, young bucks showing their elevated levels of testosterone and mothers back from 72 hours of fishing, exhausted and sleeping on the sand. No wonder, 72 hours straight, that’s a big ask. They were huddled together, sound asleep. Fabulous.
